19may2002 More notes afterwards a few random notes about things that cropped up. no particular order: - lane becker has lots of good thinking done about how to establish a weblog clearinghouse, combo rss, weblogs.com ping plus, open scraping language, etc. on top of this, things like derived ontology, blogdex, etc could be built - the biologic computing emit/receive model is INCREDIBLY important, mainly because our node/arc connections model for the internet doesn't support it built in. emit/receive would enable applications to automatically scale in a growing system, but our current model would require things like notification registration. i wonder if we could have the concept of callbacks/delegates on the web in a scalable way? hm. we'd have to reimagine everything -- we'd need to introduce the concept of *distance* into programming languages, and the internet as a whole. - the "former audience" - two strands of the conference, technological and social. social just as important. it's pretty much settled that any technology that is important and going to make a massive change is one that is socially enabling. that's pretty incredible!
