Dirk2 Changes [Enter]
v1.0 1mar2000: First version
By Matt Webb.
New Dirk!
There's a new version of Dirk, now testing. You can try it out.
Changes
Most of the changes are under the hood so you won't notice them, but in no particular order:
- The left hand column shouldn't break when the results table is large.
- The results table is wider.
- The number of connections to an object is shown when you hover your cursor over a link.
- There's a handy table to switch meta, inverted graphics and text mode on and off.
- It all runs off a MySQL database. Everyone say "ooh": Ooh.
- It can talk in xml-rpc. Everyone say "eh?": Eh?
- The graphics (both normal and inverted) are lighter so Windows users can see the detail.
- The pathfinder function is more obvious, at the suggestion of Kirk Israel.
- Actually, the pathfinder might actually be faster, too.
- Table colours, etc, are all determined by CSS now.
Some things don't work
These are things that I know don't work.
- If you Add a connection it'll only be added to this temporary database, not to the first version's knowledge.
- The text-only version hasn't been added yet. The 'low' checkbox has no effect.
- Yeah, and the Change State form is ugly. I'll change that, too.
- Forms do GET, not POST. That's so I can see what's happening.
Please help me!
If you fancy playing with the new Dirk, could you send me a bug report if it goes wrong please? Just let me know what you did and roughly when you did it. Cheers! You can contact me at matt@interconnected.org.
